EDL protesters hold an England flag and a banner reading 'no more mosques'. Approximately 50 English Defence League supporters protested outside Bristol City Council's offices against a proposed new mosque in the city's Cheltenham Road. The protest was confronted by 200 anti-EDL protesters. A large police presence kept the opposing sides apart; there were heated exchanges and objects were thrown by the anti-EDL protesters. A proposed meeting, arranged by Bristol City Council for people opposing the mosque was due to take place but was cancelled at the last minute. Bristol, UK 07/01/2014
