Grassland Puffball, Lycoperdon lividum, Lycoperaceae. Growing on Poor Waste Ground with Biting Stonecrop. Small soil growing puffball, approx 2-5cm across. White when young with a slight roughness to the surface, globous with a distinct stem. Mature specimens are chocolate brown with lower portion and stem remaining white or cream. Round or distorted. The gleba and spores are chocolate brown and the cut stem is yellow brown inside. Observed mid-October. Near Park Street Hertfordshire
