Hugo, Victor (), towers and arrows of a Gothic cathedral (dummy title), 1833, feather and brown ink on vellum paper with a J-WHATM watermark [year] / Turkey M [Ill). House of Victor Hugo - Hauteville House. Very precise drawing which reproduces the details and the finesse of the Gothic architecture; kind of lace drawn for trees and towers of the cathedral. One cannot help but think of Notre-Dame de Paris whose eponymous novel by Victor Hugo was published only 2 years before this drawing.
