Catalase enzyme experiment. Chopped liver being used to demonstrate the action of the enzyme catalase on hydrogen peroxide (beaker, lower left). Liver contains a high proportion of catalase, a common enzyme found in the human body that catalyses the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. When the liver is added to the hydrogen peroxide the contents fizzes as oxygen is released.
