Cuban Missile Crisis. Historical image showing the inside the National Photographic Interpretation Center (NPIC), USA, during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. NPIC first identified the Soviet Union's basing of missiles in Cuba in 1962. By analysing images from U-2 flights and Corona satellites, analysts at the NPIC were able to pass information to US policy makers and influence operations during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
