Jurassic Stones, by sculptor Richard Harris. Weymouth, Dorset, Britain, UK
UK, Artist Richard Harris poses by his controversial Olympic Sculpture in Weymouth, Dorset. Wales based and Devon born artist Richard Harris posed for the first time with his £300,000 plus controversial art work that is installed at a roundabout on the approach road to the Olympic sailing venue at Portland in Dorset. The unusual-looking artwork, which has already acquired some less favourable nicknames including the ‘mushrooms’, ‘stones on stilts’ and 'jurassic joke' as they stand in the middle of a pond next to the Jurassic roundabout on the outskirts of Weymouth. The idea is that the sculpture will greet drivers heading down the relief road into Weymouth. It was created by Devon-born sculptor Richard Harris and the total cost of the project is £335,405. The project has received funding from Arts Council England as well as support from Dorset County Council and other groups. 09/02/2012 Picture by: Dorset Media Service.
