Summer evening at Cawfields Quarry on the route of the Hadrian's Wall Long Distance Trail

Summer evening at Cawfields Quarry on the route of the Hadrian's Wall Long Distance Trail. Quarrying in this location north west of Hexham and Haydon Bridge has removed a section of the Roman Wall. The now disused and flooded quarry now provides a picturesque picnic spot in view of the rock strata in the Whin Sill upon which much of the wall was built.
