A Hellenistic Pilos type helmet, 4th/3rd century A sturdy bronze helmet with a weak transition setting off the brim from the skull. Flower appliqués riveted to the sides are fastened to interior bronze plates pierced for attaching the chinstraps. Riveted helmet plume attachment on the crown, also with a floral motif. Height 19 cm. Weight 820 g. Greenish-brown patina. Repairs to the skull, which is stabilised inside with coarse fibreglass. Axel Guttmann Collection (Inv.
