Gibraltar - 24th January 2015 - Pictured Dominique Searle, Editor of the Gibraltar Chronicle whose talk centred on 1988. In his talk he spoke of the way 1988 had influenced Gibraltar's present society. Among the many factors described being the IRA shootings in which he detailed some of the stories which has surrounded the shootings including allegations of bugging, changes of personnel in providing witness statements, and other allegations which opened up the debate on the issue. The first session of Gibtalks, a new live debate event organised by Julian Felices and the Ministry of Culture in Gibraltar, took place today at the John Macintosh Hall in Gibraltar. Among the speakers were the editor of the Gibraltar Chronicle, Dominique Searle, the leader of the Opposition Daniel Feetham, former Minister Peter Montegriffo and Government Minister John Cortes. The event is based on the popular "TED" talks structure.
