The commencement of the lateral portion of the Syhian fissure isnot at a definite fixetl point, but will usually be hit at a point from cm. The fissure of Sylvius begins anteriorly, approximately, at a point 3 cm. (i ^in.) behind the external angular process of the frontal bone ; and ends posteriorly ata point 18 mm. (3/^ in.) below the parietal eminence. A straight line between thesetwo points will represent the fissure, which is about 10 cm. (4 in.) long. The an-terior 18 mm. (3/^ in.) of this line will correspond to the main portion of the fissureand the remainder to the horizontal limb. The vertical limb ascends for cm. ?( I in.) from the posterior end of the main fissure. Around the posteriorend of the horizontal limb, and approximately under the parietal eminence lies thesupramarginal convolution. It is
