A Hoysala period Ganesha carving at Talakkad in Karnataka. The carving has been uncovered for the Panchalinga festival, which takes place once every twelve years. For the remainder of the time the temples remain buried under sand. The temples of Kshethra Sri Vaideshwara, Sri Pathaleshwara, Sri Maruleshwara, Sri Arakeshwara and Sri Mudukuthore Mallikarjuneshwaraare are swept clean shortly before the festival begins.
