Officers of the Intelligence and Tourist Bureau report that the traffic to date has exceeded expectations, and visitors are coming from West Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand In large numbers. The winter attractions of Queensland, particularly the north, orb being more and more recognised. The glories of the Cairns hinterland, of the Barron Falls and the many other, beauty spots are gradually being advertised, not so much by the Tourist Bureau, but by tho tourists who have seen for themselves. The passenger steamers from Melbourne to Cairns are running with full complements. The congestion will be relieved .when the four steamers Oxley, Olindu, Kariowna, and Canberra begin a weekly service on June 29. The coming establishment of a regular steamer service between Townsvllle and Cairns will enhance the attractions. Tourists will then be able to delight In the scenic glories of the Hinchinbrook Channel. The director of the bureau emphasises that there, are attractions for tourists .In the vicinity of Brisbane. Facilities are provided at the bureau for seeing Tambourine Mountain. Mount Coot-tha, Samford Ranges, and other delightful spots within a few hours of the city.
