Pylons and silage bales on Kennington Meadows. I have always been fascinated by our UK pylons - what in much of the world would be called transmission towers. Marching across the landscape, they have such strong and striking visual impact. These are on Kennington Meadows, between Oxford and Abingdon., But what exactly are the mysterious shiny black bags? Unfortunately, they are not giant alien droppings. They actually contain bale silage for feeding livestock; first take your conventional roll of hay, wrap in plastic and leave to ferment into yummy silage for farm animals.
