A Saxon miner's axe, circa 1680 Characteristically curved iron blade with a cross-shaped perforation in the centre. Oval socket with a small hammerhead on the back. Walnut helve with richly engraved bone inlay and decorative copper nails. Four cartouches on each side with mining scenes, two of them added during the Historism period.
