Ripple-marks. Group XVIII. is a series ofsandstones and shales less perfectlyexposed than most other parts ofthe section. Chocolate coloursprevail among the shales, and onthe whole this group presents fewindications of terrestrial condi-tions. One of the beds, however,has a surface with shrinkagecracks, and we observed a bed oferect Catamites and a Stigmaria-soil. Group XIX.—The next group 24 PROCEEDINGS OF THE GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY.
