NAVAL STATION NORFOLK (Aug. 4, 2022) Sailors and former shipmates depart the guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) during the ship’s decommissioning ceremony, Aug. 4, 2022. Vella Gulf was commissioned on Sept. 18, 1993 at Naval Station Norfolk. Vella Gulf is the first of five cruisers set to be decommissioned this year.
