Maenad and satyr in a musical procession.

Detail from a relief showing Dionysus (Roman Bacchus), a Satyr and Bacchante form a procession. The god wears a panther-skin cape and holds a thyrsus (pine - cone tipped staff) in his hand. The Satyr is also cloaked in another skin and plays a set of double - flutes. The Maenad tosses her head back as she beats a tambourine. Roman British Museum.
