Soldiers working under the command of 2nd Lt. Salway built a bridge at Sumber Post Field, Fort Sill, Oklahoma during World War One. The bridge cost one dollar per foot and spanned 300 ft. in length and 20 ft. in height, consisting of 14 spans. It was constructed to cross Cache Creek, allowing for easier travel to targets in the area. The bridge was designed to withstand heavy rain and flooding.
