Thespouts carry the sap away and let it fall drop bydrop into pails which are placed underneath. When the pails are fullthey are carried to a greatkettle and the sap is emptiedinto it. A hot fire is kept upunder the kettle and the sap isboiled down until it forms athick syrup or molasses.
