Ypres-Ieper WW1 Battlefield, 1914-1918, Belgium. Lettenberg British Dugouts, Kemmel, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. February 2014 Lettenberg British Dugouts built in 1917 into the side of a low hill near the higher Kemmelberg, Kemmel, to the south of Ypres. The four dugouts were buried for 80 years and were excavated in 2004 by the Battlefield Archaeology Association in Flanders. One of the dugouts is now used as a bat sanctuary.
