Rocket seeds (Eruca sativa) in a petri dish of water. Soaking improves the germination rate of some plant seeds. It is also used as a method to determine the vigour of seeds. When soaked in water, seeds exude electrolytes. Less vigorous seeds exude more electrolytes than vigorous seeds.
