Its patron is unknown, but we know that the calligrapher was Ahmad ibn al Suhrawardi, a famous student of the master scribe Yaqut al Musta'simi, and that the illuminator was Muhammad ibn Aibak, who collaborated with him on several outstanding Qur'ans
