The New York State Pavilion from the 1964-65 World's Fair in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens in New York on Saturday, February 22, 2014. The landmarked "ruin" designed by the noted architect Philip Johnson has fallen into disrepair over the years. The NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation estimated that it would costs $72 million to fully restore it, preserving it as a "ruin" but stabilized would run $50 million and demolition would only cost $14 million. A number of elected officials and preservationists are working toward preservation of the historic structure. This year is the 50th anniversary of the World's Fair. (© Richard B. Levine)
