The response is always of the nature of an outgoing current at A, and at B for both direc- tions of excitation. with the keyboard and galvanometer. You will see, if you trace out the connections, that, with the switch in the first position, deflection to your right means current from B to A, that in the position IP it means current from B to C, and that in the posi- tion 11^ it means current from C to A. By a glance at the switch and reverser, you can therefore recognise the direction of excitation and the direction of response at B or at A ; and it will be a perfectly simple matter to work through the four tests
