This is the Caterpillar of the "small white"cabbage butterfly about to change into a chrysalis at the end of summer. The braconid wasp has followed the caterpillar to this spot and as laid it's eggs as yellow cocoons ready for the the wasps,eggs hatch they will feed on the caterpillar chrysalis,killing the emerging butterfly.
