Maharishi Mahesh Yogi describes the basis for his decision to inaugurate the Dawn of the Age of Enlightenment as being "through the window of science'. He based this declaration on the results of more than one thousand major scientific studies carried out at hospitals and universities around the globe which demonstrated that the simple practice of the transcendental meditation technique (TM) could produce improved levels of personal fulfillment for the individual, reduced stress, improved health, and increased social harmony.
