Frenchs Forest, Syd. Aust June 2019: The embattled, newly opened Northern Beaches Hospital in the news again after wrong body part removed in surgery.
Monday June 24th, 2019: It has been revealed this week that a cancer patient has had the wrong side of their bowl removed during a surgical operation at the troubled new Northern Beaches Hospital in the Sydney suburb of Frenchs Forest. Opened in October 2018 and built to replace two smaller hospitals, Northern Beaches was found to be short on basic supplies of medical utensils and disposables and staff were ferrying materials via their cars from the two older facilities. There was criticism of the outsourced hospital operator and the state government for rushing the opening of the hospital and senior staff were forced to delay some procedures until things were rectified some weeks after the initial opening.
