It is a transparent liquid,specific gravity , of a very disagreeable odor; hasthe quality of dissolving sulphur and phosphorus, boilsat 100°, and does not freeze at —60°. It is very vola-tile, and produces an intense cold during evaporation invacuo, —80° being reached.
