In an effort to develop the area. The Gandrung Terakota site was built to preserve and protect one of the ldentities of Banyuwangi, which is Tari Gandrung. This kind of a dance has expcrienced dynamic life ups and downs. Originally worship dance from an agrarian society to Goddess Sri, who Is also known as the Goddess of Ferllity or the Goddess of Paddy, it became a socializing dance and then turned Into one of the icons of banyuwangi. After a harvest the farmers were accustomed to rejoicing by singing, dancing and doing other such things as show or gratitude for their harvest result. Connected with that kind of a story, In thls paddy field area, the Gandrung Terakota (Terracota dancers) Site was built with hundreds of terracotta statues in the form of Gandrung dancers. which are spread out around the paddy fields.
