Taunt, photographer (British, 1842 - 1922) 1897 One of four tipped-in photographs illustrating a printed map of Kew, Chiswick, Putney, Fulham, and the surrounding area along the River Thames. The photograph shows an elevated view of the newly built Putney Bridge. Large crowds of people cover the bridge span, along with assorted horse-drawn carts and carriages. Several barges lined up form a barrier in front of the bridge in the water below. (Recto, mount) lower center, below image, printed in black ink: "PUTNEY."
