Fine, hardy, free-growing and flowering shrubs of the easiest cultivation. Very desirable on account of blooming in August and September, when scarcely any other tree or shrub is in blossom. The flowers are large, and bloom freely, covering the shrub. The beautiful col- ors of the different varieties contrast admira- bly with each other. Althaeas can be trimmed and grown tree shape, attaining from 6 to 10 feet in height, making a handsome and compact little flower- ing tree, or 1 hey can be grown in bush form, making a large shrub. ALTH/EA, Double Blue, Double White, Double Purple, Double Red. These varieties are distinguished by the color of the blossoms, each being the same in habit and foliage. Or- der by color. ALTH/EA, Variegated-leaved (, fol. var.) A conspicuous variety, with leaves dis- tinctly marked with light yellow, and having double purple flowers ; showy and desirable. One of the finest variegated-leaved shrubs. AZALEAS, Hardy. Ghent Hybrid Azaleas combine a great variety of colors, and possess a delightful perfume. They blossom during the months of May and June, and are among the best plants for borders or beds for decor- ating lawns and grounds. Do not grow tall. AZALEAS, Hardy. Mollis. A splendid hardy species from Japan, and one of the most valuable flowering shrubs. The flowers combine a large variety of colors, and are borne in large clusters, in such profusion as to entirely hide the plant. Very desirable orna- mental shrub for
