The ornate wrought-iron gate to the walled garden of Rousham House, set in a Cotswold stone arch and framed by vine leaves, Oxfordshire, England
The highly decorative and ornate wrought-iron gated entrance to the walled garden of Rousham House in Oxfordshire. Framed by vines the gateway is set within a cotswold stone arch. Beyond the gate is a natural tunnel created by a thick hedge of box, holly and yew that is believed to date from around 1736. Much of the landscaped grounds of Rousham were designed by William Kent (1685-1748) and are a fine example of early English landscape design; they remain today, much as he left them.
