The whole num-ber of deaths, as previously stated, was 8,823, which was 1,365greater than the number returned in 1899, and 1,918 greater thanthe number reported in 1898. The number of which the cause ofdeath was reported was 8,790, and the number of which the causewas not stated was 33. The following- Table shows the number of deaths, in 1900, iueach large division of the State, and the number and proportionin each division from which causes were reported unknown : Table LVII.
