ELLIDAEY, WESTMANN ISLANDS, ICELAND, JULY 1993: Puffin Hunting: Westermann Islander Gudni Hjorleiffson stands on the cliff edge catching puffin with a traditional net called a Hafwar as the birds fly by on the updraft of a strong wind. He has set up several dead puffins on sticks to act as decoys by the edge of the cliff. In the foreground are dead puffins he has already caught. Puffins have been a traditional source of food for icelanders for generations. There are 6 million puffins in Iceland. During the short hunting season the puffins are caught on the island cliffs.
