London Southend Airport, Essex, UK. 18th Oct, 2024. Boeing E-7A Wedgetail AEW1 serial WT001 has departed Southend having been painted in Royal Air Force colours. It is the first of 3 of the AEW planes currently on order which fills the gap in the role since the Boeing E-3 Sentry left RAF service in 2021. The jet originally flew in 2010 as a Boeing Business Jet until returned to Boeing & later to STS Aviation Services at Birmingham airport for extensive conversion to AEW military use. On 1 Oct the jet arrived at Satys Air Livery at Southend to receive RAF colours.
