Marazion and beach with sprinkling of snow, looking towards Cudden Point, South West Cornwall

Solitary man walking along waters edge on cold winter afternoon in early January. The town of Marazion is probably the oldest charter town in Cornwall having been chartered in 1257 by Henry III and reaffirmed by Elizabeth I on 13th June 1595. Marazion is probably derived from Marghas Yow or Jew, the name for the Thursday market, which became Marazion. St. Michael's Mount was a Benedictine Monastery, visited by pilgrims and it is connected by a causeway to the town of Marazion. It is claimed that Charles I slept in Marazion the night before he sailed into exile in France.
