A fine flintlock pistol, Giovanni Sofianti, Florence, circa 1750. Smooth bore barrel in 15 mm calibre with chiselled floral decoration and a gold-filled horse mark over the breech. "LAZARO LAZARINO" is engraved on the sighting rib. Flintlock with cut designs in relief (cock hard-soldered) and the signature "G. SOFIANTI". Beautifully carved walnut stock. Iron furniture chiselled with martial trophies and rococo decoration in relief. Original iron-tipped wooden ramrod with bullet puller. Well-preserved. Length 49 cm.
