Boats participating in the Regata Storica, a re-enactment of a historical procession of boats carrying the Doge and highest ranking Venetian officials in 1489 to welcome Caterina Cornaro, the wife of the King of Cyprus, who renounced her throne in favour of Venice. The procession is followed by important annual rowing regattas, the highlight of the Venice rowing season.
