Army Lt. Col. Michael Bogmenko, Provincial Reconstruction Team Zabul executive officer, hands out candy to local Afghan children during a foot patrol, Shinkai, Afghanistan, Nov. 14, 2011. Members of PRT Zabul and ANA performed a joint 13 kilometer foot patrol to various villages in the Shinkai district to inform village elders of an upcoming shura. PRT Zabul's mission is to conduct civil-military operations in Zabul province to extend the reach and legitimacy of the Government of Afghanistan. Bogmenko is a reservist deployed from the 308th Civil Affairs Brigade in Illinois.
