An Ottoman silver writing set (kubur) decorated with mother-of-pearl, circa 1876, Three-piece screw together set covered fully with pin-affixed mother-of-pearl scales. In the middle piece a container for quills, the top with a screw-on pounce pot. At the underside of the inkwell a silver stamp and tughra of Murad V. Length cm. Sultan Murad V. was put into power by the Young Turks and reigned for only 93 days from May 30 to August 31, 1876. He was discharged due to health issues and replaced by Abdul Hamid II.
