The sun sets over Lago de Atitlan in Guatemala, and tourists and locals alike gather by the docks on the lakeshore taking in the beautiful view of Volcan San Pedro and Volcan Atitlan from Panajachel. The water is calm and reflecting the deep blue of the sky, as water taxis and private boats sit moored along the waterfront. A taxi pulls up to one of the main docks in Panajachel, coming from San Pedro la Laguna, and silhouetted by the glow of light on the lakes surface. These docks are a tourist hub, where backpackers, locals, and visitors of all types come to take water taxis or public ferries to the other villages around the lake. Mayan Culture is still prevalent in most of the villages, in both their handicrafts, traditional wear, language and ways of life.
