Chair. This chair was supplied by the Amsterdam upholsterer Marinus Penninck in 1739 to the new town hall of Edam, located north of Amsterdam. He delivered a total of 46 chairs and 4 armchairs. They are the earliest known chairs made in the Netherlands in the Rococo style. The chairmaker Ermans was established in Amsterdam around 1737. The back was undoubtedly made by a sculptor.
