Grave at the Hai Van Pass. The Hai Van Pass is a mountain pass in central Vietnam. Hai Van means ocean clauds because of the misty weather which is very typical for this place. Historicaly the Hai Van Pass was one of the few ways, to travel from the southern parts of the country and the plains of the Mekong river to the north. During the Vietnam War heavy clashes between the soldiers of North Vietnam (Viet Kong) and the US forces took place at and around the Hai Van Pass.
