Tins is notan inappropriate comparison, for besides their starry shape somespecies emit a phosphorescent light. GENUS Sertnlaria S. pumila. The most abundant of all the hydroids on the northeastcoast is this species, which is found in profusion upon Fucus and otherseaweeds, and mingled with them upon the rocks.
