Moscow, Russia; Saint Basil's Cathedral. The Cathedral of Intercession of the Virgin on the Moat, better known as the Cathedral of Saint Basil the Blessed was commissioned by Ivan IV (also known as Ivan the Terrible) and built between 1555 and 1561 in Moscow to commemorate the capture of the Khanate of Kazan.
