In thephotographic illus-tration, I haveshown the nest and theweather-beaten mummy of ayoung oriole just as they ap-peared. The latter was evi-dently nearly full fledged atthe time of its death. Therewas every e\idence to showthat the bird had met deathby being caught by a threadfrom its own cradle. The feetof the little victim were tiedas tightly together as thoughit had been done by humanhands.
