The Clyde Dam, built on the Clutha River near the small town of Clyde. It is the 3rd largest hydroelectric dam in New Zealand. The dam is owned by Contact Energy. It was construcetd between 1982 and 1993. The dam is 100 metres high and 490 metres in length. It flooded the Cromwell Gorge. The lake it created, Lake Dunstan, has a surface area of some 26 sq. km.
