The flexor tendons h,Fig. 1, are in no degree implicated in the contraction, and may be seen deeply in the concavity of the curve 8 DUPUTTEEN S FINGER CONTRACTION. in their normal relation to the bone, , in the densetubular sheath by which they are closely bound downto the phalanges, along their entire length, betweenthe articulations. This dissection has also been figured in Druitts Surgeons Yade Mecum, eleventh edition, p. 301, and FIG. Cast from Hand represented in Figs. 1 and 2, previous to dissection in Museum of Kings College. I am indebted to Dr. Druitt for permission to re-produce it here (see Fig. 2). In this drawing, thedirection and relations of the contracted band ofthe palmar fascia are more distinctly shown, butthe relation of the fascia to the tendons had notthen been demonstrated by dissection. I improved , ST. In Dr. Druitts woodcutthe artist has failed to reverse the drawing on theblock, so that it has the appearance of being drawnfrom a right hand; but the dissection and the castboth show it to be the left. There is also a cast in the Museum (see Fig. 3),apparently taken from the same subject previous tothe dissection, as
