Another fracture extended to the right, to upper part of right temporalbone while other fractures were present as shown in skiagrams. Superior longitudinal sinus andupper part right cerebral hemisphere badly lacerated. Patient lived but 25 minutes after he wasshot. The bullet had not sufficient energy to perforate the scalp. School collection. 188 GUNSHOT WOUNDS lives are saved in larger numbers now, there are sequelae and compli-cations among those who survive that are most distressing In connection with the subject of perforating wounds by themilitary rifle bullet, it is interesting to note that the same characterof lesion will occur henceforth from pistol bullets, because automaticpistols which fire steel-jacketed projectiles are becoming part of thearmament of the nations in lieu of revolvers which employ lead bullets.
