The construction crew pose on the foundation of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The tower was to be the centrpiece of the 1889 Paris Exhibition that was to mark the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. It was intended to last 20 years but was saved by the experiments ecouraged by Gustave Eiffel, such as radio communication. It is visited by 7 million people per year. The photo is undated but comparison with dated photos puts this in the summer of 1887.
